According toPolitico,the search warrant indicates that the F.B.I.

is investigating former president Donald Trump for a “potential violation of the Espionage Act.

“The New York Timesreported that the search warrant indicated the F.B.I.

had probable cause to believe the former president had “classified/TS/SCI shorthand for ‘top secret/sensitive compartmented information.'”

This kind of sensitive government information is only meant to be viewed in a secure government facility.

The Times noted the F.B.I.

seized 11 boxes of documents from Mar-a-Lago on August 8.

After spending most of the week claiming that the F.B.I.

had “planted evidence” at Mar-a-Lago, the former president’s team made a statement.

None of this makes sense at all.”

So with all that in mind what is the Espionage Act?

Section 793 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code.

It also forbids the “capture photographs or copy descriptions” of information for this purpose.

Special Agent Asha Rangappa explained the Espionage Act on Twitter.

Rangappatweetedthat the law concerns “information related to the national defense.”

In addition to the Espionage Act, there were two other laws listed on the F.B.I.

search warrant that Trump may have violated.

The search warrant didn’t indicate any other information.
