When the 49th Annual Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on “The Talk” on May 5, 2022, there were a few surprises, including the Peacock mini-series spin-off “Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem” ending up in the outstanding daytime drama category when it only streamed five episodes in 2021.

However, many of the usual suspects found their way into the performing categories, including previous winners like Marci Miller of “Days of Our Lives” andNancy Lee Grahn of “General Hospital”(viaSoap Hub).

As usual, one soap came away the winner as far as how many Daytime Emmy nominations it racked up in 2022.In 2021and 2020, “General Hospital” came away with the most nomination honors (perVariety), and in 2019, “Days of Our Lives” got more nods than any other show (viaDeadline).

But in 2022, things changed with daytime drama’s ratings record-breaker earning more nominations than all of its competitors.

It’s been the number one-rated soap in the Nielsen numbers for more than three decades, according toCBS, and in 2022, “The Young and the Restless” received moreDaytime Emmy nominationsthan any other program with a whopping 18 nods.

“General Hospital” was a very close second, with 17, and “Days of Our Lives” came in with 11, according toThe Hollywood Reporter.

“Y&R” received nominations for outstanding daytime drama, outstanding writing, and outstanding directing, with a host of performers also nominated (viaTV Line).

Such stars include Mishael Morgan (Amanda Sinclair) for outstanding lead actress, Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) and Jason Thomspon (Billy Abbott) for outstanding lead actor, Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) and Jordi Vilasuso (Rey Rosales) for outstanding supporting actor, and Melissa Ordway (Abby Newman) for outstanding supporting actress (viaSoap Hub).

The 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented on June 24 at 9 p.m. EST, airing on CBS and streaming on Paramount + (via The Hollywood Reporter).
