For serious actors, preparing for any role is a substantial commitment.
All this is enough of a challenge, but portraying a historic character brings an extra set of responsibilities.
This means that Lynskey had to dig deep to understand who Betty Gore really was.
In anexclusive interview with The List, Lynskey shared how she prepared herself for the role.
“Honestly, the thing that attracted me initially was how well-written the scripts were,” she said.
“I couldn’t put them down.
I wanted to see what happened next.”
“I felt moved by a lot of aspects of her personality.
“I felt like I knew her on a cellular level.
I was like, ‘I understand this person.'”
So she set to work researching the actual case of Gore’s murder.
“It’s a very easy read a really good book.”
He happily obliged, for which she was deeply grateful.
“He answered every single question.
That was amazing.”
